Majorettes Troupes
Majorette troupes present a opportunity for you to provide entertainment at your charity event.
Bright Star Majorettes Troupe
We are a majorette troupe in Melbourne which is labelled as a deprived area of Chelmsford. We have been running since October 2007, we have 30 children ages from 4 to 14, we have 2 boys, 2 with epilepsy, 1 with chronic renal failure, 1 with Ernest Dania's Disease and many with self esteem/confidence issues. The troupe was initially set focussing on Melbourne but now we have children from other areas in chelmsford and even one from Wickford. Our aim was to give EVERY child an opportunity whatever there financial, parental background, race or religion.
Our last event was Brightlinsea Carnival, Essex, 27th June, where we won 2nd place.
The normal procedure for going to a carnival starts with us meeting at one of the troupe leaders house to get ready. We then file into cars or minibuses to our destination.
Once there we often have an inspection which consists of the children having to learn to stand to attention and silent. The judges then will walk around them and sometimes the children are required to do a short routine. After judging the carnival will start and the children march down the designated streets in the procession.
At Brightlinsea after the carnival finished we as parents got the children changed and took them to the beach, even though it was pouring with rain we all had an ice cream the one of the troupe leaders got all the children in the water and had a paddle, races and crabbing. great fun had buy all.
A fantastic team building exercise because believe me these children do so well and work so hard sometimes its lovely just to let there hair down and have some fun !!!!
The journey home was believe me a lot quieter than the journey there as they were all snoring there little heads off. Bless them . !
