Raising money by a parachute jump
Definately not for everyone, a parachute jump for charity does appeal to a lot of people. This is normally a static line jump (the parachute opens automatically) or a tandem jump (attached to an experienced parachutist).
There are groups who specialise in providing volunteers with the opportunity to raise funds by a thrilling jump. A potential jumper normally has to raise the money to pay for the jump. All additional collected funds would go to the nominated charity.
It does seem to be safe. A lot of people have done parachute jumps to raise money for charity. The groups who organise these jumps seem to be quite professional.
Don't commit any payments to any group without checking their credentials. For example ask how long have they been going as an organisation? How many jumps have they done in that time? What is their safety record?
